Narvarte Oriente, Mexico City, Mexico, 2017
The project transforms a severely deteriorated 1950s house into a five-unit residential building with apartments of different sizes and layouts in Mexico City’s Roma Sur neighborhood.
The intervention retained approximately 70% of the existing walls and slabs to reduce demolition and make use of the original structure, while adding a third floor. Every apartment includes a terrace, and the building provides a shared rooftop garden.
In addition to preserving the character of the original house, the proposal supports responsible densification in the central city through adaptive reuse and the introduction of new housing.
