AICM Terminal 1 Renovation
Mexico City, Mexico, 2025
The project involved the renovation of an apartment in a building designed by Isaac Broid in Mexico City’s Escandón neighborhood. The original architecture is defined by a main volume placed along one property line and a series of projecting boxes toward the opposite side; one of these volumes, known as the “black cube,” forms part of the apartment.
Given the open layout and limited floor area, the intervention relies on custom-designed furniture that simultaneously provides storage, equipment, and spatial separation. The bedroom wardrobes, for example, also function as bookcases facing the shared living areas.
The dining-room backdrop, kitchen, pantry, bar, and bathroom cabinetry were tailored to the apartment and the client’s needs, allowing every centimeter to be used without visually fragmenting the space.
